Pattern Series

This series of Pattern Paintings utilises the delicate tissue paper elements of a sewing pattern, including the notches, construction marks and notes, and the outlines of the peculiar shapes particular to specific creations.
This has led me to investigate the paper patterns themselves as the source of these objects as well as their component parts.
By experimenting with the individual parts through juxtaposition, construction, reconstruction, assembly, ordering, reordering and layering I begin to break the rules, creating different textures, patterns and forms, often mixing pattern parts together on one painting surface, and making it impossible to follow any intended instruction as to the order of things.
